Mørkki av Vargevass

Unusual winther in Denmark. More than 2 months it have been posible running the dogs by sleed, which may be record. Trying to keep the form shape we trained the mainteam and second the youngsters on sleed today, maybe last time this season.

foto: the "youngsters" back again in Nørlund. From left Vacke, Pavlo, Kebne and Wilma, the tails belongs Shika and Dolly.

Wilma and Dolly after Ewok are doing fine progress in harness. Ewok (Enok) after Mørkki av Vargevass out of Natalia av Vargevass.

Mørkki is our second base-dog used in our breed, he is born '95, after Gee Haw Brando and out of Shira av Vargevass (Esso Extra av Vargevass x Isfakse av Vargevass).

Gee Haw Brando is after Lokiboden's Doc out of Polar Speed Jessica.

Mørkki was the sire to Finnmarksløpet1000 leader, Ewok, '99, and female mainleader Noal av Vargevass, '04.

Kennel Vargevass describe: "Mørkki was a wonderful dog who have been of great influence to the kennel. He were lead on Karsten's team when they won the Pirena in 1998 and placed 3rd in the Femund 500 race in 2001.

In 2003 Karsten placed first in Polar-Distans, Open Class, over 300 km, with Mørkki in lead. Next ear, with Mørkki in point, the team won the race agen, time was 22 hours and 7 minutes - thereby setting the fastest time in Open Class. All 11 dogs on the team completed the race."

Karsten tell; "He was an outstanding sled dog, but most and foremost a truly great personalitie."
